Black Friday shopping deals are no longer just for the United States.

Canadian retailers have caught on to the door crashing sales available in the US, with most stores now offering similar deals.

"In the last three years, our retailers have embraced it, so they're now doing the same promotions you used to get when you went south of the border," says Denis Pelletier, General Manager of the Bayshore Shopping Centre.

Target, Best Buy and Wal-Mart are some of the big box stores that are offering the same discounts in Canada as the ones available in the US. Everything from televisions, game systems and cameras are available at slashed prices and that's convinced some people to stay in Ottawa.

"For sure it changes my mind," one shopper says. Another says it's enough to convince her to stay and shop at Bayshore.

The mall is giving away $25,000 of gift cards on Black Friday, a move that encourages shoppers to stay in Ottawa and buy local. With the promotion and all of the deals, Pelletier is anticipating a very busy day.

"We expect this year to be our biggest year," he says.

All stores in Bayshore will open at 7:00 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 28. It marks the start of extended holiday hours. Other malls, like the Tanger Outlets, will also be open at 7:00 in the morning.
