Ottawa Public Health has re-opened the A&W at the St. Laurent Shopping Centre after both live and dead cockroaches were found on the premises.

The discovery was made on August 31st during a routine visit to the mall to investigating complaints and to talk to employees in the food court about cleaning and food protection.

According to Ottawa Public Health, live and dead cockroaches were found in the food court washrooms and at the A&W. Officials say this is not uncommon after a pesticide treatment. The source has been identified and fixed, says a representative from Ottawa Public Health.

The A&W food premise was re-inspected on September 1 and 2 and due to continued food safety issues, Ottawa Public Health decided to keep it restaurant closed.

The restaurant was re-opened on Thursday, September 3rd.
