A group of young men at Ottawa's Longfields-Davidson Heights High School has launched a campaign to fight violence against women.

About a dozen grade 12 students, all of them male, were inspired in May after hearing a speech by Glen Canning at Ottawa City Hall.

Canning is the father of Rehtaeh Parsons. The Nova Scotia teen took her own life after she was allegedly sexually assaulted and bullied about it online.

The students started a campaign called "Man-Up" and invited Canning to speak at their school.

Man-Up aims to end the cycle of violence by encouraging bystanders to speak-out.
