One man is in hospital after he was shot twice in Vanier Saturday night, say Ottawa Police.

Police were called around 10:30 p.m. to Montreal Road and Bradley Street. One man was found with a gunshot wound to the lower leg. Police say an unidentified male in his early 20s, wearing a suit, fired multiple shots from a semi-automatic handgun as he attempted to run away.

The victim is known to the Guns and Gangs Unit. The victim is not co-operating with investigators and the shooting is believed to be gang related.

This was the city's 40th shooting of 2015.

Ottawa Police were kept busy Saturday investigating another shooting that took place early Saturday morning.

Police were called to Shillington Avenue and Merivale Road in the Carlington area around 6 a.m. Saturday and say at least two shots were fired.

Police say it is believed one shot was fired into a vehicle stopped on Shillington Avenue. The vehicle then sped away.

It’s not known if there are any injuries.

Police say people at a restaurant leaving at the time they arrived were “unwilling to provide any assistance to police pertaining to what had happened.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Guns and Gangs Unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5050 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
