Commuters can expect more changes with the last major change coming for LRT construction.

The Transitway between Laurier Ave. and Lees Ave. will be closed on April 24th. Campus station at the University of Ottawa will also be shut down, meaning buses will be re-routed to Laurier station.

University of Ottawa students aren't looking forward to the change.

"Definitely people that are coming from Orleans, it's going to be very difficult for them to come to campus," says one student at Campus station.

The closure will happen with three days remaining in spring exams, adding even more pressure on some students.

"It's definitely not fair," says a third year student.

"We're already stressed enough with exams and having to go out of the way is definitely not ideal, but that's the way it is."

"If they have to catch an exam...down campus and they get off at Laurier, that's at least a 15 minute walk for them," says another student.

"If they were to sleep in or something, they'd be late for their exam."

Other students aren't concerned about the change.

"It is unfair, but having said that, you can make proper accommodations to get to your exam on time."

The city says the contractor already pushed back the start date of construction part of the Transitway west of downtown, moving it from December to January. Sub-contractors are already in place and a delay with the downtown section could cause other delays.

The other major change will happen on Nicholas St. Buses and cars will share the lanes going southbound towards the Queensway. A bus lane will be added to the ramp onto the eastbound 417.

On the northbound lanes of Nicholas, the right lane will become a dedicated bus lane, while the left lane will be for cars only. When asked about possible delays for motorists, the city says they're not very concerned.

"Since the highway was widened across the Rideau River bridge, the backups that used to occur pretty frequently on the Nicholas loop ramp don't occur the same way as they originally did," says OC Transpo's Pat Scrimgeour.

On June 19th, the final section of the Transitway from Tunney's Pasture to Merton will close. It won't re-open until construction of the LRT is complete and trains start to run in 2018.
