A 22-year-old Ottawa man is facing numerous charges after a gun was seized following a foot pursuit in the Heatherington/Fairlea area of Ottawa on Thursday.
Ottawa Police on bicycle patrol encountered a man with what appeared to be an open container of alcohol. Police say when officers approached, the man became nervous and attempted to flee.
Police say he ran and ended up inside a unit in the 1400 block of Heatherington Road.
Officers chased the man into the unit, arrested him and recovered a fully loaded 45 caliber handgun. No one was injured.
The man will be charged with a number of offences including possession of a loaded, prohibited or restricted firearm; unauthorized possession of a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon.
He’s expected to appear in court on Friday.
