Another ghost bike has been set up in the Capital to solemnly mark the intersection where a cyclist lost his life.

Friends and members of the cycling community placed the bike at West Hunt Club and Merivale roads -- where 38-year-old cyclist Mario Théoret was killed earlier this week.

On Thursday, he was riding his bike east on West Hunt Club road near Merivale when he collided with a tractor trailer, and was killed.

Cat Weaver was Théoret's best friend. She was among dozens of Théoret's friends and fellow cyclists who came to pay tribute to him, placing a white ghost bike by the road to mark the place where he died.

"He was a very easy going person who freely gave of his time, energy, always, always," Weaver said.

She co-founded a non-profit organization with Théoret called Trips for Kids, that takes underprivileged children in the Capital area on cycling excursions.

"He was a gentle, kind, giving person who shared his love for his sport with everyone around him, and helped make the world a better place," said Théoret's friend Eric Newcomb.

Friends say they will carry his memory, and honour his love for cycling.

"He taught us, me and my brother, how to bike, and that was a big part of our life, going mountain biking," said Cat Weaver's daughter Gabrielle Heroux.

"I know every time I'll be out biking, I'll be thinking of him."
