Two people are lucky to be alive after their Ottawa-bound airplane crashed west of Orangeville, Ontario.

The plane went down at the Rainbow Ridge Campground near Dufferin County 109 around 12:30 p.m. Friday, July 3rd, 2015. The plane was carrying a father and daughter duo who are safe.

The couple, who suffered only minor injuries, took off from Grand Valley Air Strip and were en route to Ottawa when they ran into mechanical problems. The plane narrowly missed a trailer after it struck a hydro pole.

Neither individual were transported to hospital.

The Transportation Safety Board is investigating.
