When leaders from Mexico and the United States descend on the capital Wednesday for the 'Three Amigos Summit' commuters can expected delays and detours in the downtown core.

On Friday the City of Ottawa released a map of road closures and road restrictions showing traffic impacts in and around downtown as world leaders meet for the North American Leader’s Summit. The city says commuters will see the greatest traffic impacts near Parliament Hill and the Ottawa International Airport throughout the day on Wednesday, June 29.

In addition to static road closures, the city is also advising residents of temporary closures lasting upwards of 30 minutes for the leaders' official motorcades. Those closures mainly impact Sussex Drive and Colonel By.

If you must come downtown on Wednesday, residents are advised to take the bus or to walk and to allocate extra time to your total commute time.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Ontario Provincial Police, Ottawa Police, members of Toronto's Police Force and other similar forces are working together during the summit to protect both the players involved and members of the public and to mitigate traffic problems.

A security perimeter is being set up around Parliament Hill restricting access to members of the public. The RCMP says all public tours of Parliament Hill will be cancelled on June 28 and 29. The Changing of the Guard, Yoga Wednesday and the Visitor Centre at 90 Wellington Street will also be closed on those days. More information on the closures can be found on the RCMP’s website.
