The wait times at hospitals in Gatineau are among Quebec's longest, according to a new survey ranking emergency rooms across the province.

The survey found the average ER stay at the Gatineau Hospital was 27 hours while the average stay at the Hull Hospital was 25 hours. The times are more than double the provincial target.

Both hospitals received failing grades of "E+," the worst in the province. They've also gone down in the ratings, after they both earned "D-" last year.

The Pontiac Hospital received the best rating in region of "B-."

The survey was conducted by the Montreal newspaper La Presse.
