Gatineau Police say a dog was used as weapon in the assault of a 40-year-old man in Buckingham on Tuesday.

Police were called to a home on Rue Romeo-Lorrain and found a man lying on the ground semi-conscious and bleeding.

Investigators say the 31- year- old suspect ordered his Boxer type breed dog to attack the victim.

The victim suffered head injuries a deep cut to his leg casued by the dog bite.

The Gatineau SPCA has seized the dog which is expected to be put down.

Police say the two men knew each other but were not related.

Charged with assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm is M. Misha Krop.
