A City of Ottawa engineering report, scheduled to be released next week, reveals Lansdowne Park, including the Civic Centre, is beginning to crumble.

Although a number of city councillors have suggested taxpayers would be better off if the stadium and arena were demolished, Ottawa Coun. Bob Monette says he'll fight "tooth and nail" to renovate the aging facility.

Monette says he doesn't want to see the city lose the stadium, especially since the city invests $6 million per year in its upkeep.

The lower tier of the south-side stands were taken down last summer after structural cracks were discovered.

The engineering report is scheduled to be released next Monday.
