The City of Ottawa and Plasco have reach an agreement to deal with tens of thousands of tonnes of waste.
The 20 year agreement would see Plasco divert city waste through a process called plasma gasification, new technology.
City officials say Plasco will process almost 109,500 tonnes of waste annually for at least 20 years and the city has the option to extend the agreement by up to another 20 years.
The facility will be on Concession 4 Rideau Front at the corner of Moodie Drive and Trail Road and already has the property zoning compatible with the City’s Official Plan.
