OTTAWA - The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit has laid a number of charges in relation to a robbery that involved one male being stabbed.

On May 25, 2014, at approximately 10:15 p.m., a lone male, age 19, attended the area of a fast food restaurant along the 3300 block of Fallowfield Drive to reportedly meet another party to potentially conduct a transaction for the sale of a cellular phone. The victim was met by two males. One of the suspects produced a knife, stabbed the victim , and then demanded his cash and cellular phone. The suspects then fled to a waiting vehicle. The victim was hospitalized for a period for treatment of injuries sustained as a result of the stabbing.

On September 15, 2014, one of the suspects in this investigation was arrested after a brief foot pursuit and an attempt to evade arrest. At the time of arrest Police recovered a quantity of marihuana. Philippe Mallet, age 20 of Ottawa, is charged with the following offences stemming from the May 25 incident:

  • Robbery
  • Aggravated assault
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Breach of probation

The following charges stem from the September 15, 2014 arrest:

  • Assault peace office
  • Obstruct/resist peace officer
  • Possession of a Schedule II substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
