PRESCOTT, Ont. - A cargo ship bound for Chicago has run aground on the St. Lawrence Seaway near Prescott.

The Transportation Safety Board says a vessel named the M.V. Sedna Desgagne was stranded just after 8 a.m. Sunday while passing near a bridge in the southeastern Ontario town.

TSB spokesman John Cottreau says it's unclear how many people were on board but no injuries have been reported.

The ship was carrying a load of unprocessed steel.

Three inspectors with the board are on site to assess the cause of the accident.

Cottreau says marine traffic has been able to continue using the seaway.
