Guelph Police say they have made an arrest in connection with the hit-and-run crash that killed 24-year-old Grace Glofcheskie of Arnprior.

The crash happened early Sunday morning in Guelph after the SUV involved allegedly fled a police RIDE checkpoint.

The vehicle became airborne and collided with Glofcheskie. Soon after, whoever was inside the SUV left the area.

Police determined the SUV involved was stolen a few hours before the collision.

On Tuesday afternoon, Guelph police announced that a 21-year-old man had been arrested that morning at a Guelph motel.

The man is a Guelph resident whose name has not been released.

He faces a number of charges including criminal negligence causing death, dangerous driving causing death, flight from police causing death, possession of property obtained by crime, breaking and entering and breach of probation.

Glofcheskie was originally from Arnprior but was attending the University of Guelph studying human kinetics.

She had just completed her Masters and had accepted an internship in Florida at a sports facility, with a focus on golf.

Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit is looking into the incident as well, focusing on the actions taken by police officers during the series of events.
