Peter Angione

News Director

As Director of News & Information Programming for Bell Media Ottawa, Peter Angione is responsible for news and information programming on CTV News & Newstalk 580 CFRA.

Peter presides over all newsgathering efforts for television, radio & digital at Bell Media Ottawa.  

He has led CTV News & Newstalk 580 CFRA during some of Ottawa’s biggest news stories – most recently the Parliament Hill Shootings and the Ottawa Bus-Train Crash in 2014. 

Under his leadership, CTV News & Newstalk 580 CFRA have been recognized with several prestigious Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTDNA) Awards. 

Peter was the recipient of the Radio-Television Digital News Association Canada Distinguished Service Award winner for 2012.   This award honors a member who has played a major role in the continuing success of RTDNA Canada.  Peter was conference chair with RTDNA (Radio-Television Digital News Association) for five years and sponsorship chair for the organization.

Throughout his more than two decades in broadcasting, Peter has worked at television stations across the country covering some of the major stories from around the world – including the 9/11 attacks and federal, provincial and municipal elections in four provinces.  He has held a variety of positions including Senior Producer of News, 6pm, 10pm & 11pm Producer, General Assignment Reporter and Anchor/Reporter.

Peter is a graduate of the University of Kings College with a Bachelor of Journalism and Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Arts in English and History.
