KINGSTON, Ont. -- Police say they made 19 arrests and issued 166 tickets or charges during Queen's University homecoming events in Kingston, Ont., on Friday and Saturday.

They say the majority of the offences were Liquor Licence Act violations, followed by bylaw violations relating to noise, and a high percentage of the arrests were for public intoxication.

They say three people were charged with slapping a Kingston police horse in separate incidents on Saturday.

All three suspects are facing a charge of injuring a law enforcement animal.

Police say one accused is a female Queen's student, one of two men is an Algonquin College student from Ottawa, and the second man is from the Cobourg, Ont., area.
